Resources for Coping With Tragedy

FROM: Bruce Herman, Director of University Counseling Services

Following Friday’s tragedy in Newtown, CT, the staff of University Counseling Services would like to share some resources for coping with trauma:

The CDC has developed a resource with information on how to better care for yourself and others when coping with a tragedy, which you can view here.

A division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services also has developed a resource on how to talk to children about disasters, which you can view here.

If you know UMBC students in need of support, they are encouraged to call Counseling Services at 410-455-2472. For more information about our services for students, please visit our website.
